Cybersquatting is the act of preemptively acquiring a domain name that includes a specific trademark, company name, celebrity name, or a name expected to have business value in the future, with the intention of selling it at a high price later on.
The term is derived from "squatting," which means to illegally occupy or use someone else's property or space.
A person who engages in such activities is called a cybersquatter.
